Nursing science for women's health care
that's easier to reach, easier to trust.

Hey There! I'm Dr. Kortney James |
I'm a nurse scientist who holds a dual appointment: as an Associate Health Policy Researcher at RAND Corporation, and on faculty at UCLA's Joe C. Wen School of Nursing. I'm also an alumna of UCLA's National Clinician Scholars Program and Associate Editor at Nursing for Women's Health.
In the five years since earning my PhD, I've published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles and reports, and my research has been cited over 300 times. I've been invited to speak to scholars and clinicians across the US, and as far as London, on the systems shaping maternal and reproductive health. But numbers on a page don't change anything on their own. So I've spent just as much time translating that research for the people who can actually act on it: health systems, policymakers, and clinicians.
I don't come to this work as an outsider looking in. I've been the nurse at the bedside, the patient in the exam room, and the researcher asking why neither experience matched what the data said should be happening. That's the lens I bring to everything I publish, every talk I give, and every organization I work with.
